Our Mission

We are a “Historical Role Play Community” and “Vice Combat” region set during the Vietnam Conflict in the game Second Life. The role playing community is dedicated to accurately recreate this misunderstood period of history (1965 – 1973) in Southeast Asia.

UNITED STATES NAVY & CARRIER TASK FORCE 77

The US Navy 7th Fleet’s Carrier Task Force 77 represents the Naval air, sea and river forces serving during the Vietnam conflict. We are a historical role play and Vice combat role playing Group dedicated to realistically recreating this complex conflict.

We currently have openings for Officer and Enlisted positions, pilots, and non-pilots. These range from roles for people who have just a few hours a week to spend with us to those who would like to help us grow, operate the Sims and advance to senior ranks. Experience is valued but not required and we provide training, uniforms, equipment, and quarters aboard for every position.

The Task Force includes the USS Kitty Hawk, a highly detailed and fully functional recreation of the historic US Navy aircraft carrier. Everything from the steam powered catapults on the flight deck to the trash cans in the enlisted mess operate just like the real thing. If you would like to get involved in helping to bring the Kitty Hawk to life, there are dozens of ways to do so. Whether you have the time to pitch in in a major way, the ambition to command a squadron or unit, or just want to be a part of the crew for an hour or two a week, we have something here for you. You can think of an aircraft carrier as a floating city. Any job that would be required in a city is needed aboard.

In addition to the Kitty Hawk, the Task Force operates the squadrons of Carrier Air Wing 11, and a Combined River Assault squadron.

To join us you can apply here. Someone will get back to you to arrange an in-world meeting to discuss your interest and our needs. Let us talk!

Our missions include providing security aboard Navy ships, securing and defending the FOB and the nearby town of Phu Yen, airborne and ground “search and destroy” operations against Viet Cong and NVA forces in Bihn Dinh and participation in offensive ground operations. Marines also serve as Pilots and Force Recon.

Force Recon is similar to the Navy SEALs in that they are heavily trained in airborne and combat diving techniques in order to allow them to bypass traditional land defense systems.

Uniforms and equipment are provided free but the training is intensive and not for everyone.

AIR AMERICA

Air America was a private passenger and cargo airline charter company covertly owned by the CIA branch of the US Government. From 1950 to 1975 it served alongside the US allied intelligence agents and military personnel in the Far East.

In SL it is mostly operating on the Indochina region. It is headquartered in Song Cau on a former rubber tree plantation and processing factory. AA also is active out of Duc Pho Airport, in Quang Ngai province, using Viced planes and helicopters flying all over South Vietnam and the Laos border.

Its missions include the delivery of any kind of goods to the local populations, to reach the remote locations and to go where no one dares to go to. Its motto ” Anyplace Anytime.”

NORTH VIETNAMESE ARMY

The People’s Army of Vietnam (also called North Vietnamese Army) is the official military organization of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam i.e., the North Vietnam.

It is supported and equipped by the Soviet Union (USSR) who is sending military aid and technical labor, and by the People’s Republic of China.

The NVA also operate out of Laos where they are partnering with the Pathet Lao communist rebels. They are supported by the Vietnam People Airforce using the Mig-17, Mig-21, and the Chinese version of the Mig-19.

Divisions within the NVA incorporate armored and mechanized battalions including the Type 59 tank., BTR-60, Type 60 artillery. The North Vietnamese has both amphibious tanks (such as the PT-76) and light tanks (like the Type 62) during the conventional phases.

Experimental Soviet equipment is also used against ARVN forces at the same time, including man-portable air-defense system SA-7 Grail and anti-tank missiles including the AT-3 Sagger.

The air defense is also significant, including the S-75 Dvina and the S-125 Neva high altitude systems.

VIET-CONG

The Viet Cong, officially denominated as the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, is an armed communist organization to be found in South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. It fights under the direction of North Vietnam against the South Vietnamese and United States governments. It has both guerrilla and regular army units, as well as a network of cadres who organize and mobilize peasants in the territory the Viet Cong controls.

They are motivated by national independence and the elimination of the corrupted Southern regime backed by the US occupation of the country, as well as by the communist ideal for redistribution of the land and wealth.

These rebel forces conduct guerrilla warfare, sabotage and propaganda benefiting from their knowledge of the land and using various hidden tunnels, hospitals, food, and weapon caches spread all around the country.

They have established a Headquarter, using the Co Roc Mountain caves, in the Binh Dinh region.

They receive a support in various equipment’s from Russia and China using the Ho Chi Min trail coming from Laos. By sea it is also smuggled through Nghia an harbor in the Quang Ngai region, coming through the South China Sea area.
